03 Olympic Blvd from I-55 East Frontage Rd to Houbolt Rd

The east-west connector route project includes the extension of Olympic Blvd west to the I-55 East Frontage Rd. This alternative includes intersection improvements at Houbolt Rd and Olympic Blvd as well as the construction of a new bridge crossing the Rock Run Creek floodplain and wetlands. This project provides a new shared use pedestrian/bike path and improves connectivity to the Rock Run Trail.

Funding & Schedule

Preliminary engineering and environmental studies (Phase I) for the Olympic Blvd project were completed by the Department in December 2021. The project has advanced to the next implementation phase, contract plan preparation and land acquisition (Phase II). Phase II and Phase III (construction) are being performed and led by the City of Joliet.
